BRAVA (Ballet Resource Active Volunteer Association) announces David Allan’s The Nutcracker, Public performances scheduled for December 18-21 at Landis Performing Arts Center on the Riverside Community College Campus. School Outreach performances are scheduled for Thursday, December 18 and 19 at 10 am. Two public shows are performed daily December 20 and 21, 1pm and 7pm.
Since it’s inception over four years ago, BRAVA has presented the “Suzanne Reading Nutcracker school outreach program.” This program has provided 1300 tickets annually for David Allan’s Nutcracker and a special introduction to the programming and education opportunities at Riverside City College. This year BRAVA plans two outreach days and doubles the number of youth participants.
Giving the opportunity for over 2,000 school children to experience this honored tradition is something Carhart, her team of professionals and Riverside Community College have presented for over 30 years. “We are proud of our history in the Riverside Community and are committed to continuing these kinds of education opportunities for the arts,” said Carhart. Directly following the Nutcracker performance Riverside Community College and BRAVA will provide special on campus tours to Riverside Elementary schools grades five and six.
BRAVA will be presenting a number of outreach performances of the narrated story of the Nutcracker, with costumed characters. These performances will be provided throughout the month of November and December at the new facility, housed next to Platt College at 6465 Sycamore Canyon Road. Additionally, BRAVA provides free tickets to service organizations in the Inland Empire.
BRAVA provides these special services thanks to the generous support of Riverside Community College, The City of Riverside, The William J. Gillespie Foundation, eXteres Corporation, Riverside Ballet Arts and many private individuals.
